ICELITH SCM – a new generation clinker replacement in concrete

ICELITH SCM is a calciopolymer-based supplementary cementitious material under development to replace up to 30% of clinker in standard OPC concrete, targeting a ~30% reduction in concrete-related CO₂ emissions at equivalent performance. The material is engineered from >90% recycled and secondary mineral streams and is produced via low-temperature mineral processing using renewable electricity, thereby avoiding the process CO₂ emissions inherent to clinker production.


ICELITH SCM is designed for direct compatibility with existing OPC-based concrete systems. It is not a filler or a blend, but an engineered calcium-silicate SCM intended to deliver measurable emissions reduction while maintaining strength and durability. IT is not yet commercially available. It is currently being developed and validated across multiple European and national research and innovation programs, from TRL 5–7. ICELITH SCM is one of several material grades within the ICELITH Calciopolymer™ platform, developed to address both the carbon intensity of cement and the declining availability of traditional SCMs such as fly ash.
